Position: Senior Sustainability Coordinator
■Please tell us your background
I joined GOYOH as a part-timer in my second year of university, and have continued to work there since graduating. I've been with the company for five years. During my time at university, I mainly studied food economics and environmental economics. I started working at GOYOH because I wanted to have new experiences while making use of what I learned at university, and because my hobby is watching plays, I wanted to work in an area near Hibiya where I could easily perform at a theater. This is my second year as a working adult since graduating from university.
■Please tell us what you are in charge of at GOYOH.
I am in charge of operations. In running the services we provide, I am mainly involved in coordinating with various parties within the company and other related parties, while also coming up with ideas to improve the service. I am also in charge of collaboration between the internal operations team and system development team, as well as sustainability collaboration and co-creation with external companies.
■What kind of people do you interact with in the company on a daily basis? What kind of interactions do you have with them?
My role is similar to that of a defensive midfielder in soccer, and my job is to promote the entire business by exchanging passes with members in various roles and external partner companies. For example, I work with the engineering team that develops systems to verify technical issues and share customer feedback, and I also work with the operations team to create sustainability-related content and events for residents and office workers in buildings where our services are installed. I assist the engineering team's experienced specialist members in leveraging their know-how and technology to realize sustainability impact in real life, while the operations team includes many university students, and we strive to allow each member to utilize their individual talents and strengths.
Our team also includes professionals in specific fields such as real estate finance, well-being, and gaming, and we aim to combine many different knowledge and skills to create the optimal solution.
■Please tell us about your collaboration with external parties.
Real estate fund investment manager
We act as a bridge between resident needs and investor perspectives through the operation of a portal site for residents and the design of questionnaires.
Major building management company
We work together to plan the annual event schedule and content development for the office building.
Major manufacturer collaboration manager
We research companies that offer decarbonization and well-being solutions that are suitable for our client buildings, and then hold discussions and make arrangements for their implementation.
I think the interesting thing about GOYOH is that I can collaborate with many people and be involved in everything from on-site implementation and establishment to effectiveness verification .
Please tell us three things you think are unique about GOYOH.
1.Flexible
Everyone works in a way that suits their lifestyle, whether they're a mother, a student, or someone working part-time. Also, rather than simply following a set method of work, we come up with new ideas every day and work to improve efficiency and performance, so I feel like this is a company with just the right amount of flexibility in terms of both work style and work content.
2. Wide range of work
Although we are a real estate tech company, the services we provide are unique and you will be able to work in a variety of tasks and fields.
As an example, I have had the opportunity to work with former Takarazuka Revue troupe member Hoshizuki Rio as a lecturer at wellness events for tenants. I've loved Takarazuka since I was in middle school, but I never imagined I'd have the opportunity to work with an alumna, so I was very moved when I first got this opportunity. It was my first year at GOYOH at the time, and I was grateful for the work environment that accepted me, even though I couldn't do much, but at the same time I was worried about whether I was being of any help, so I still remember how my continued involvement, however small, has led to such a wonderful opportunity for me.
3. Comfortable working environment
I believe the reason I've been here for five years is because of this comfortable working environment. The two points above are exactly what led to this. I'm able to work on a variety of tasks, so I'm always getting new stimulation. Also, in terms of education, the company supports me in obtaining qualifications and deepening my specialized knowledge, which I think makes it a great environment.
■What is rewarding about working at GOYOH?
It allows me to create projects that will have a positive impact on society , based on my strengths and hobbies.
I used what I learned at university to design a program that incorporates behavioral science (nudges) to save energy, save water, reduce waste, and contribute to the local community, and added ideas such as increasing motivation through visualization. This has now become part of GOYOH's operating format and is being deployed in a variety of ways.
Other members also develop original projects based on their own research themes (e.g., diversity, international relations), hobbies (theater, games, foreign languages), or life stages (childcare, elderly care, etc.).
■ Future goals
Fortunately, the number of properties using our services has increased, so I feel there is a lot we can improve on. One of the reasons I wanted to continue working at GOYOH after graduation was because I felt there was still a lot I could do, so I would like to continue to face the current challenges and areas for improvement without giving up and make them even better. Also, I realized that I have become one of the longest-serving members of the company, so I would like to continue to cherish the good things about GOYOH while also learning from new members and continuing to work hard.
